Facebook Vs. Google- Who shall win the tug of war?

Google and Facebook the two internet giants, each master of its own game! Both trying to outdo each other, what could be more interesting?
Where Facebook leads the pack of social networking sphere, google dominates almost everything else.

Both are in a constant state of tussle to take away from each other and cash in on each other’s abilities.

How many times have we seen Facebook revamping the look of its homepage? Think of the number of instances when Google has tweaked its own search algorithm which is like more than 100 times in a year. Turn by turn these giants come up with competitive applications and most of them get the Axe like Google’s Wave and Facebook’s “Gift Shop” because they just aren’t good enough compared to their original inspirations.

Google Buzz turned out to be a huge embarrassment for google with privacy concerns emerging at large. Friend Connect and OpenSocial app platform came across as cheap imitations of certain facebook applications. However Google has tried; it has yet not been able to enter the vicinity of Facebook expertise at social networking; forget diminishing it in anyway.

Google though has a backup plan in place with a huge investment in Zynga who have immensely contributed to Facebook’s success by being the top buyers of Ad space on the website, through which google aims to find some ground inside the facebook universe.

Facebook has not been a silent spectator either it has constantly counteracted trying to hit Google under the belt with formally launching the Facebook Questions, a product which would enable users to ask anything and everything under the sun. The application has been designed in a way that its content cannot be indexed by search engines, this has been done deliberately with the confidence that Facebook’s  500 million users will make the product self sustainable.  Also through this application facebook hopes to dilute the massive use of search engines making its intention of directly competing with google crystal clear.

Both these companies have had their own bitter-sweet moments locking horns with each other. They have collided on web applications, phones and what not but none of them has yet emerged as the clear winner.

Comparisons are inevitable between the two but drawing a conclusion to crown one of them as the king of the jungle remains a distant proposition for now.
