I can make sure that the worst night-mare to me or to you is to lose your Google account due to hack attempts or phishing etc.., because all our Google accounts contains fully personal, confidential information. So worlds leading search engine giant Google who also provides many services like Gmail, Picasa, Blogger, ect. recently introduced advanced sign-in with two step verification process which in turn makes your Google account more secure from hack attempts and phishing. Lets see how it works and how to work with it.
To enable Google Two-Step authentication, login to your Google account.
#Step 1: Now on the right pan select the option "Using 2-step verification"
#Step 2: Now click on "Set up 2-step verification", Select you mobile type from drop-down menu and enter your mobile number.
#Step 3: Now Google will send you a verification code to your mobile, Enter the received verification code in the below and click "verify" and click "next" in next window.
#Step 4: But what if your mobile phone is stolen, lost or get repaired, So that Google will give you 10 backup codes, store them some where safely, Check the box below and click "next".
Note: Each code will only work for one time usage.
#Step 5: Here you can use a secondary mobile of yours or your trusted one's and you can also conform that mobile by sending the verification(But verification is totally optional) and click "next".
#Step 6: Now click on "Turn on 2-step verification" button, by this action you will automatically signed out of all devices and applications like Thunderbird, Outlook, Mobile Gmail etc..,
#Step 7: Now you need to create a Application specific passwords in order to access your account from other devices like Mobiles etc.., To create it click on "Application specific password" in your Google account and enter the name of the application or device you will use it for and click generate password.
You should use this special password instead of you real password once per a application or device and you no need to memorize it as your password.
That's it you're all set to go!!!
If you wish to turn off the two step verification process just navigate to Google accounts > Using 2-step verification > turn-off two step verification.
