Mozilla losing the browser battle to Google & Microsoft?

Delicious Digg StumbleUpon Reddit Subscribe to RSS Feed

Browsers are shining and gleaming, after all Microsoft, Mozilla and Google have all launched their new versions of browsers. Internet explorer 9 is here, Mozilla has given a green signal to its Firefox 4 and Chrome 10 is knocking at doors.

The deliberate co incidence is that these 3 have introduced new versions in the same. This has never happened before in the browser history. New versions have always come after gaps. It’s been years since internet explorer has been on the scene and from then it has come up with 9 versions. Firefox after two years came with its Firefox 4. Similarly Chrome 9 came after a gap of 2 years after its previous version.

But Chrome 10 arrived only after weeks of chrome 9, which is in very quick succession. Browsers are changing face, browsers are constantly upgrading themselves to lure new users and sustain existing ones.

The race between the 3 browser firms is at its peak where Mozilla is prepared to launch 5,6 and 7 versions of it by end of this year. And Microsoft, Google are arming themselves with apps and upgrades.

But what is going to be the fate of this ferocious race? Who shall emerge the winner?

The answer lies in the words “Simple innovation”. Browsers who shall give that little extra to their users will take the game away. In this case it is going to be Google and Microsoft who shall win this battle. Mozilla shall lose unfortunately.

There is strong reason for such a statement as Microsoft and Google are slowly and steadily building apps for their browsers enhancing browsing experience to another level.
Microsoft is in fact developing Windows in such a way that it will be smartphone compatible completely and will rule the operating systems market soon. It is also looking at incorporating itself into tablets.

Google too is playing smart; it is readying apps for its browser like Google docs and marketplace and is also accepting third party designed applications. Microsoft too has the web version of Outlook, word and excel. Where Outlook is amazing, Word and Excel are still at a nascent stage when compared to its desktop versions, but they are being polished for perfection.

In the discussion above  Firefox did not feature at all, then how shall it survive in this battle? It is likely that it will lose its popularity very soon because of lack of USP’s which its counterparts are working on continuously. Firefox has 2 options, it will have to pull up its socks or it will have to surrender mid battle.
