Android is a mobile operating system developed by Open Handset Alliance led by Google. On the other hand Windows Phone is a mobile operating system developed by Microsoft. Both of the OS are similar in some ways like Multitasking, wide variety of software support, large storage space etc. On the other hand, Android devices and Windows phones differ in many ways like web browsing, updating facilities etc.

Similarities between Android and Windows Phone:
- Both Android and Windows phone are able to run more than one application at a time.
- The cross button of Windows phone doesn’t close any running application, rather it minimize the running window. If you want to close any running application, you have to close it monitor memory.
- Both Android and Windows Phone are made up with top tier hardware, first processors with a large amount of storage space and memory.
- Language Support: Android supports multiple languages, but language support is limited in Windows Phone.
- OS Licensing: Android is open source and free for everyone who want to use in their hardware. Windows Phone must be licensed for every device.
- Touch Screen: Touch screen of Windows Phones is stylus centric. Touch screen of Android devices are finger friendly.
- Web browser: Android device uses modern browser optimised for mobile lay out. Pocket Internet Explorer is present in Windows Phone. Web browsing in Android devices is easier than Windows Phones.
- Update facilities: Android allows different parties to update and enhance OS. Microsoft alone provides updates and OS enhancement.
